IMPHAL, May 28 : Heirok Hr Secondary School will be representing the U-14 boys Thoubal district team in the State Level Subroto Mukerjee Inter School Football Tournament as they emerged the champions in the district level competition beating Yairipok High School in the final today.
Heirok Higher Secondary School and Yairipok High School were evenly matched the game throughout and the game was forced to be decided via kicks from the penalty mark after the two sides remained locked at 2-2 till regulation time.
Heirok Higher Secondary School started positively and took the lead with an early 3rd minute goal from Naresh Singh but lost the lead when M Momocha found the equaliser for their Yairipok rivals in the 10th minute.
Yairipok High School gained further ground with M Momocha scoring yet again in the 18th minute to overturn the lead.
After trailing behind by a goal in the opening half, Heirok Hr Secondary School fought back to pull level via Devo in the 49th minute and make the competition open again.
The remainder of the game saw a heavy campaign against one another in search of the winner but both sides failed to make the best use of the chances they had and eventually the game was decided by penalty shoot-out. In the shoot-out, Belot, Devo, Loyamba, Boynao and Peter scored all found the target for the winning side as only Srinibasa, Raj, Premkumar and Prithibiraj netted for the Yairipok based school.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Yairipok High School dismantled Thoudam Leishangthem High School 7-0 as A Shirinibas starred with four goals and Heirok Higher Secondary School notched up a huge 12-0 win over Khongjom Standard English School to complete the final line up.
In the Yairipok High School vs Thoudam Leishangthem High School, Y Bikash opened the goal fest early in the 3rd minute before A Shrinibas ran riot to pumped in four goals (11', 22', 30', 48') and K Srinivas added a goal in the 35th minute to make it 6-0.
The last goal came in the form of an own goal from P Chaoba in the 49th minute.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final match, Heirok Hr Secondary School enjoyed a dominating 5-0 first half lead before wrapping up the game 12-0 against the lowly Khongjom Standard English School.
Bikramjit shone with a double hat-trick with goals coming up in the 8th, 18th, 24th, 34th, 36th and 44th minutes as A Belot (10', 41') added twice and Peter (25'), Tomba (32'), Likson (47') and Dinkal (49') netted a goal apiece.
