Chandam Khomei awarded

BISHNUPUR, May 26 :  Chandam Khomei (Cha Khomei) has been conferred the '2nd Nongthombam Chandrakala Ningshing Sahitya Mana 2022' for his novel "Saji gi Leibakta".
The award was given to the writer today at an event organised by Writer's Club Manipur, Nambol at the residence of Sharatchandra Nongthombam in Oinam Bazar, who furnished the award.
The event was attended by Irengbam Nalini Devi, MLA Oinam AC as the chief guest; Nongmaithem Kirankumar Singh, Convenor Manipuri Language Advisory Board Sahitya Academy, New Delhi sa the guest of honour; president Writer’s Club Manipur Nambol as president of the function and donor Sharatchandra N and patron member Th Swarankumar as presidium members.“The event began with the dignitaries leading the gathering in paying a floral tribute to the photo of (L) Nongthombam Chandrakala.
Following this, Chandam Khomei was awarded with the 2nd Nongthombam Chandrakala Ningshing Sahitya Mana 2022. It may be noted that the award comes with a cash prize of Rs 15,000, a citation and a shawl.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA I Nalini Devi lauded Cha Khomei saying that writers play a big role in leading a society towards the path of development. She stated that only a select few have the talent and the will power to research about the concerned subjects and put pen to paper in a way that will absorb the readers.
