WRD Minister inspects river banks

Imphal, May 26 (DIPR)
Water Resource and Relief & Disaster Management Minister Awangbow Newmai has inspected banks of various rivers in and around Imphal areas namely Imphal River, Nambul River and Iril River to  prevent flooding.
During the visit, the Minister deliberated on repair works which are to be taken up on river banks by the Water Resource Department to tackle flood and irrigation problems in Manipur and sought cooperation from the people.
The Minister was accompanied by RD & PR Minister Y Khemchand Singh,  Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam, Additional Chief Engineer (Flood), Y Homendro Singh and other officials of the Department.
All major rivers in Manipur were in spate during the heavy downpour that lasted over 10 days recently. The IMD had also reported that there could be low to moderate rainfall in the North East region in the next few days.
