IMPHAL, May 26: All Manipur Asha Workers Union has urged the State Government to fulfill the long pending demands of ASHA workers in the State at the earliest.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held at Irawat Bhawan today, Naorem Binodini president of All Manipur Asha Workers Union has expressed dismay that the incumbent Government has failed to provide incentives to the ASHA workers as promised though they have been recognised as State workers.
Also the Government has failed to actualise the demands to provide Rs 18, 000 as wages, she added.
She further raised the question of why the Government is unable to provide the minimal amount of Rs 300 which should be given as uniform allowance per month to the scheme workers.
Stating that the Government does not hold back in employing the scheme workers in any situation, she expressed discontent that the Government turns a blind eye to the problems of such workers and does not acknowledge their dedication and sacrifice.
In view of such a scenario, she cautioned the State Government to heed to the demands of the ASHA workers before they resort to stringent forms of protest.
ASHA workers from different districts were also present in today's press meet.
