One positive
IMPHAL, May 24: Four days after Manipur became free of Covid-19 active cases, a fresh positive case has been detected.
The State became literally Covid free after all the remaining active cases recovered on May 20. Since then, no fresh positive case was detected until today.
Out of 101 samples tested for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, one civilian, a resident of Imphal West was confirmed positive which implied a positivity rate of 1 per cent.
Notably, the pandemic had already claimed 2120 lives in the State.
The cumulative number of positive cases in the State now stands at 1,37,231 (general population 1,32,217 and Central security personnel 5,014).
This figure includes 1,35,110 recovered cases (general population 1,30,103 and Central security personnel 5,007) and one active case.
The recovery rate is 98.45 per cent.
Taking into account 1376 doses jabbed yesterday, the cumulative number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 28,85,238 (first dose 15,67,197, second dose 12,23,833 and precautionary dose 94,208).
Till Monday, 61.83 per cent of the State’s total eligible population has received the first dose of Covid vaccine while 51.97 per cent has been given both the first and second dose.
