CCpur, May 24 : Many school going children in Churachandpur are having fever and down with cold and sore throat, forcing at least two schools to close-down for the week.
The seasonal flu, a trend that doctors are partially attributing to the constantly inconsistent weather conditions was reported in grown ups as well.
Incessant rainfall that left the weather chilly and a spell of scorching heat between the rains has led to rise in cases of fever, cold and other common viral ailments, and it is imperative that everyone take good care and wear masks at all times as these ailments are easily transmissible, according to the CMO Churachandpur.
School going children are particularly susceptible to these infections as they can quickly pass-on to one another.
The seasonal flu has hit a staggering number of students, particularly the Covenant School at Gangpimual-Mualkoi leaving the school authority no choice but to close-down for the week.
Sources in the school said many children mainly from Preparatory to Class V have high temperatures and were complaining of dizziness and nausea, with some even throwing up at school since last week.
As the number of students that needed to be dropped home due to the flu rose to 15-20 per day, and those who have not turned-up for school due to the same illness crossed 150, it was considered fitting to suspend classes for the next few days, said a source.
Additionally, Rayburn High School has also suspended classes for students of Class Preparatory to Class 1 until Friday.
