Footballer killed in hit and run case

IMPHAL, May 23 : A 24 year old footballer from Manipur who played in a professional football club succumbed to injuries after a two-wheeler (TVS Ntorq 125) was hit by an unidentified vehicle suspected to be Mahindra Bolero at Potshangbam Khullen Lamkhai last night while another person was injured grievously in the mishap.
Reportedly, the mortal remains have not been claimed.
Deceased Pukhrambam Samson, s/o late P Brojen was a resident of Awang Wabagai and he played for Madan Maharaj FC (still in contract) while the injured has been identified as Telem Inao (22), s/o T Lakchandra and he is undergoing treatment at the ICU of Raj Medicity.
Speaking to media persons, the elder brother of Samson, P John stated that his brother and Inao went to buy medicines from Koirengei at around 8 pm yesterday.
Saying that he talked with his brother till 8.06 pm (approx), he continued that he learnt about the accident at around 8.30 pm .
"Samson was already dead when we reached the spot while Inao was found seriously injured," he informed and claimed that the vehicle that escaped might have been a Mahindra Bolero as some evidence is there.
Denouncing the alleged hit and run case, locals blocked the road that connects Sekmai and Koirengei after forming a JAC.
The protest was reportedly suspended late in the evening while the JAC urged the State Government to find the truth of the incident within 2 days.
