Thangal Union condemns

The Thangal Khanglong (Thangal Union) has strongly condemned the insensible statement of Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA) that Kuki CSOs namely, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, Thadou Inpi Kangpokpi, KSO Sadar Hills, TSA Sadar Hills, Thadou Youth Association (TYA), Vaiphei People's Council, Kangpokpi (VPC), Zillai Kangpokpi, Gangte Tribe Union (GTU) Kangpokpi, Gangte Student's Organization (GSO) Kangpokpi, Kuki Women Union Kangpokpi, Thadou Women Association Kangpokpi, and Komrem Students' Association Kangpokpi are the only civil bodies of Kangpokpi district.
In a release, Thangal Union urged SAHILCA to refrain from making such irresponsible statements to foster peaceful co-existence of all communities residing in Kangpokpi district.
"The selected CSOs being Kuki-based organisations, SAHILCA should clarify that their statement was directed towards the Kuki community and thereby leaves no room for ambiguity and seed for mistrust and rancor amongst the communities residing in Kangpokpi district", it added.
Thangal Union also stated that the union supports the State Government's War on Drugs mission and resolved to declare the lands of Thangal Nagas free from poppy cultivation.
The Union further congratulated SAHILCA for resolving to ban poppy cultivation which is an initiative in the right direction.
