'Appoint eligible Dean of Students' Welfare, MU' says DESAM

Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has appealed to all concerned to appoint an eligible professor as the Dean of Students' Welfare, Manipur University as per the rules and regulations of the Manipur University Ordinance at the earliest.
DESAM in a press release stated that the incumbent Dean of Students' Welfare, MU is an Associate Professor who has been appointed violating the rules and regulations of the Manipur University Ordinance which clearly states that the Dean of Students' Welfare should be appointed from among the Professors of the varsity only.
Raising concern over the matter, DESAM expressed that there is a high possibility that the Dean has been appointed in the interest of some individuals and not in the interest of the varsity therefore the student body urged all concerned to provide a clarity on the appointment process at the earliest.
Regarding the inability to declare the list of bonafide students' names who are to stay in hostels though half the year has already passed, DESAM termed it really unfortunate and it is a result of the appointment of an incompetent Dean of Students' Welfare who is not able to deliver his duties efficiently.
Such an act has added more woes to the problems of the students especially from far off places who are facing inconveniences to commute to the varsity amid the rising prices of fuel, the student body said.
DESAM further maintained that amid the present situation where the bonafide students of the varsity are not able to stay in the hostels some non-bonafide students who are staying in the hostels are creating ruckus disturbing the peaceful environment of the varsity.
Also DESAM will submit a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University tomorrow demanding for the appointment of an eligible Dean of Students' Welfare.
