"Yoga Mahotsav 2022" held at various places

CHD/SPI, May 14: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Chandel and Japhou Youth Club on Saturday jointly organised Yoga Mahotsav 2022 as countdown programme to International Yoga Day at Japhou Youth Club Hall, Chandel.
The programme conducted as part of Youth Club Development campaign was attended by Michael Thangminlien Mate, District Youth Officer (DYO); Shongsir Nicodim, Headmaster of Japhou UPHS; Ng Rameson Monsang, former DYO NYK Chandel; Somie Wanglar, president Japhou Youth Club as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Michael Mate highlighted the programmes and schemes under Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and Department of Youth Affairs.
As part of the programme, the District Level Outstanding Youth Club Award for 2021-22 of NYK Chandel was handed to Japhou Youth Club along with a cash reward of Rs 25000.
Sports materials and NYKS affiliated certificates were also handed to 30 youth club presidents and secretaries from different villages of Chandel and Tengnoupal.
Another Yoga Mahotsav cum personal contact programme on Atma Nirbhar Bharat was jointly organised by NYK Thoubal and Kshetrileikai Rising Club (KRC), Kshetrileikai at Kshetrileikai Community Hall, Thoubal.
It was attended by Puyam Jiteshor Singh, ex-Councillor Ward No 3 Khsetrileikai; Michael T Mate; Maibam Samananda Meitei, ex-member Ward No 3 Khsetrileikai; Thokchom Shyamachandra Singh, ex-member-Ward No 3 Khsetrileikai and Konsam Lokendra Singh, DACYP member, NYK Thoubal as presidium members.
Later, Thokchom Sontila Devi, youth leader and Khungdongbam Sophiya Devi, president Ningol Club, Heirok demonstrated Yoga Asanas to the participants.
District Level Outstanding Youth Club Award certificate for 2021-22 of NYK Thoubal was handed to KRC along with a cash reward of Rs 25000. Sports materials and NYKS Affiliated Certificates were also handed to 40 youth club presidents and secretaries from different villages of Thoubal and Kakching.
Similarly, NSS volunteers and programme officers of Don Bosco College (Autonomous) Maram also celebrated International Yoga day by performing various asanas and exercises.
Earlier, Dr Fr KO Sebastian, SDB, Principal exhorted the NSS volunteers with his words of wisdom and highlighted the benefits of yoga.
