KANGPOKPI, May 12: Mudslides at Lamlenkon near T Vaichong sub divisional headquarters have completely cut off Twilang area from the rest of the State since Wednesday.
This is the seventh-time the mudslides have cut off the place since August last year.
The Joint Monitoring Development Committee of IT Road as usual immediately swung into action by bringing in a JCB to clear the road but the vehicle could not proceed further due to the unceasing heavy rainfall.
The shortcut road from Thonglang Atongba to T Vaichong sub divisional headquarters via Lamchok was also temporarily closed owing to a rapid rise in water level in Irang river.
The Joint Monitoring Development Committee Chairman, Lutngam Manlun said that failure of the Government and the department is writ large over the frequent landslides at the area.
All measures have been adhoc arrangements, he said and appealed to the State Government and authorities concerned to at least consider the people's distress and initiate measures for a permanent solution.
Meanwhile, a landslide also reportedly occurred at Bajagara village partially damaging one residential house.
