Opium seized
IMPHAL, May 11 : A team of special commando unit of Khabeisoi arrested 37 year old Abdur Rahaman from Canchipur near Manipur University Gate along with two kg of opium worth around Rs 1.5 crore in the international market.
According to reliable information, the commando team rushed to Canchipur and carried out a frisking and checking drive on receiving inputs about the transportation of banned drug items along Imphal Moreh road.
During the drive, one car (Verna) driving in a suspicious manner was detained for verification and on checking the same opium weighing around 2 kilograms was seized.
The driver of the car was identified as Md Abdur Rahaman, s/o (L) Manowar Ali of Kwakta Ward no 3, Bishnupur. He has been handed over to Singjamei police along with the opium.
In another instance, a team of Imphal East commando arrested a 43 year old drug smuggler from RIMS Road, in front of Sky Hospital today.
The arrested person has been identified as Thanglianmang Zou alias Mangcha, s/o Ginjakhup Zou of New Zoupeng village in Churachandpur district.
From him, two soap cases of heroin and a mobile phone were seized, but the quantity of the narcotic wasn't provided by the source.
As per sources, the seized heroin was to be delivered to a resident of New Checkon, namely Rojit.
Thanglianmang Zou has been handed over to Lamphel police station.
