Imphal, Apr 8 (DIPR)
MLA Losii Dikho today inaugurated Mao-Imphal market (temporary shed) at Kabo Leikai Nongchup, Imphal West.
Speaking at the inaugural function, L Dikho said that Manipur is a beautiful place where different sections of people have been living together peacefully by the grace of God.
Even the Mao-Imphal market would not be just a business centre, rather it would foster closer relationship among the people living within the State, he observed.
He also said, “With the blessing of God, the soil of Mao is quite fertile, we harvest lots of vegetables, flowers, fruits etc. As we all know Mao is not a big area yet it contributes a lot for our State and even to our neighbouring areas like Kohima and Dimapur. Agricultural produces of Mao are in high demand as they are organic.”
L Dikho further said that instead of always asking for inputs, it is a high time to have ‘our own production’.
He thanked Chief Minister N Biren for understanding, realizing and supporting the agriculture and horticulture sectors which are very important for promoting the economy of the State.
“If we love our State, we need to contribute something to the society as a community instead of always demanding something from our MLAs or the State Government, otherwise we will not be responsible citizens,” he said.
The inauguration function was attended by MLA K Robindro, Imphal West DC Th Kiran, Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta Singh, members of Mao Business Women Union and CSOs. Farmers and traders from Mao sold their goods here for some time earlier following trouble at Nagaland. Temporary arrangements were made by some civil society organisations here at Imphal to enble them sell their goods here.
