Don't encroach, advises CM

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has appealed to the people of Manipur to not encroach on water bodies like the Loktak Lake, reserved forest areas, Government  and Khas-land illegally.
He further said that the Government will provide proper compensation for any land acquired from the public.
Speaking to media-persons after flagging off a free eye check-up & spectacles distribution camp for Ukhrul district at the western gate of the Chief Minister’s Bungalow today, the Chief Minister stated that incident at Sora was very unfortunate as the Government had paid all compensation for the land acquired to set up National Sports University which has been shifted to Koutruk.  
Stating that the Government doesn’t want to use force to evict illegal encroachers, he appealed to all illegal encroachers to vacate whether it is on water bodies, reserved forest areas, Government land, Khas-land, paddy fields, highways, etc.
The Chief Minister, on the other hand, lauded the shopkeepers and residents of both Paona Keithel and Thangal Keithel for understanding the policy and programme of the Government to decongest traffic in the bazar areas.
He said the new parking arrangement has been taken up for the convenience of the shopkeepers as well as the shoppers.
The camp was organised by SAKSHAM Manipur Prant.
