Police apprehend drug smugglers

IMPHAL, Apr 29
A team of CDO/IE Unit led by Inspector Kh Henery Singh, Officer in-charge Commando Imphal East Unit and Inspector Kh Pathou Meetei, OC Heingang Police Station on Thursday arrested four drug smugglers from Shongphel village road near waiting shed and recovered 40kg of Opium and 16 bags of poppy seeds.
The operation was assisted by Inspector S Sanju Singh of CDO/IE and conducted under the command of Kh Herojit Singh, Additional SP (Ops) Imphal East, said police.
The arrested persons were identified as Sham Bahadur Dahal (23), s/o late Chandrabahadur Dahal; Sanjit Dahal (27), s/o Gangaram Dahal; Bishnu Adhikari (42), s/o late Chandrabahadur Adhikari and Khemraj Adhikari (31), s/o Chandrabahadur Adhikari. They were all found to be residents of Shongphel village, Ukhrul district.
The arrested persons have been handed over to Litan PS for further legal procedures.
