IMPHAL, Apr 29 : At least six student organisations have found Praja Higher Secondary School and Khonghampat Higher Secondary School in a dilapidated condition with many facilities lacking during an inspection drive.
A press release issued by Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) said that the inspection drive was jointly carried out with All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Singpang Lup (AIMS).
During the visit, the organisation witnessed lack of teachers and facilities such as laboratory and equipment, MSF said and added that they also learnt that many of the teachers at the two schools are actually hired by the schools itself without any assistance from the Government.
Saying that the modern education system being implemented in Manipur is inappropriate, MSF urged the State Government to look into the matter so that the students can get quality education.
The statement further urged the State Government to make sure there is no shortage of teachers in Government schools and provide all amenities such as laboratories and equipment to produce good students.
