IMPHAL, Apr 30 : Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) Cell, Manipur University in collaboration with Department of Anthropology, Manipur University on Saturday observed "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Day" at Manipur University, Imphal.
In a release, EBSB Cell informed that as a part of the observation and synchronizing with the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a Multilingual Kavi Samelan on "Nationalism" was also conducted.
It was attended by Prof N Aruna Devi, Dean School of Humanities Manipur University; Prof S Jibonkumar Singh, Director of College Development Council, Manipur University; Prof Th Ratankumar Singh, Head Department of English and Cultural Studies, Manipur University and Prof H Subadani Devi Head, Department of Hindi, Manipur University as presidium members.
During the programme, Dr P Lilabati Devi, Head, Department of Dance and Music, MU gave the welcome address while Dr Ch Ibohal Singh, Nodal Officer, EBSB Cell, MU delivered the keynote and introductory speech.
In the Multilingual Kavi Samelan, 27 poets including dignitaries recited a total of 30 poems in Manipuri, Tangkhul, Mao, Thadou-kuki, Hindi, English, Oriya,Tamil and Sinhala languages.
The participants reciting the poems included Professors, officers, non teaching staff, research scholars and students of the University.
All the participants in the Kavi Samelan were presented "Lengyan'' and "Certificate of Honour".
The function culminated with a vote of thanks by Dr S Yaiphaba Meitei of Department of Anthropology, MU.
