PLA ‘officer’ arrested

IMPHAL, Apr 29: A combined team of Bishnupur commando and a column of 16 Assam Rifles personnel arrested a 2nd lieutenant of RPF/PLA today afternoon from Kodompokpi Lamkhai under Nambol police station
Acting on a specific information about the presence of some active members of a banned underground outfit in and around Kodompokpi Lamkhai area, the combined team of Bishnupur commando and 16 Assam Rifles personnel led by Y Shaktishen, OC Bishnupur Commando rushed to the spot.
The combined team was acting under the command of M Roni, Additional SP (Operation), sources informed.
On reaching the spot, the combined team detained one person at Kodompokpi Lamkhai bus waiting shed who was later identified as Laishram Ibomcha Singh alias Jeet (44) s/o (L) Yaima Singh of Kangsoibi Mapal, Bishnupur district.
On spot verification, Ibomcha disclosed that he is an officer of RPF/PLA presently holding the rank of 2nd lieutenant and working as a Burmese language translator.
Ibomcha was arrested from the spot at 1.20 pm and handed over to Nambol police station.
