Heroin worth Rs 7.04 Cr seized

CCpur/TPL, Apr 29 : Troops of Assam Rifles and Manipur police seized 1.76 kilograms of heroin from a peddler at Songdai village, Churachandpur district yesterday, said a statement issued by the PRO of Assam Rifles today.
The seized heroin is worth about Rs 7.04 crore in the market and they were found packed in 43 soap cases, added the statement.
The PRO however did not give the name of the drug peddler from whom the heroin was seized.
The peddler along with the recovered items have been handed over to Singnat police station for further course of action, said the statement.
In another incident, during routine checking of vehicles at Permanent Vehicle Check Post Khudengthabi, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted a van and on thorough search of the van, 109 gram of brown sugar estimated to be worth Rs 21.8 lakh in nine soap cases concealed in the dashboard were recovered. The recovered items along with the peddler were handed over to Moreh police station for further action.
