IMPHAL, Apr 24 : Manipur capped Senior Women's T-20 League Plate Group campaign with a 19 run victory over Mizoram for the third win in 6 matches at ACA Stadium Barsapara, Guwahati today.
Manipur won the toss and stacked up a lowly 107 runs for 8 in 20 overs and restricted Mizoram to 88 for 7 to close out the campaign on a winning note.
Top orders of Manipur failed yet again today as Chingkhei M (8), Loidangton Th (7) and Ganga W (3) succumbed cheaply with sub 10 scores. From 31/3 after 7 overs, Kalpana Waikhom who hit a half century in Manipur's 36 run victory against Sikkim redeemed her form to make the highest 26 runs for Manipur off 33 balls today before she got run out in the 18th over for the 7th wicket.
Rebika S (16) too played a significant middle order part with Kalpana before Milan Y added an unbeaten 23 runs of 18 balls to take the tally past the 100 run mark.
Mizoram bowlers did well to maintain a good economy and Puipii came out with the best performance fetching 2 wickets for 24 runs in her spell of 4 overs. Tarang Jha, Rin Mawii and Zuali of Mizoram also claimed a wicket each to keep Manipur innings under control.
Manipur bowlers too produced a commendable bowling performance to keep Mizoram, who had a shock start, under tight vigil.
Mizoram's Omomi fumbled in the very first ball itself as she was run out before registering her first run off Kalpana before her opening partner Shweta too had the same fate in Ganga Waikhom's ball the next over making it 2/2.
Mami (13 off 32 balls) and Tarangtha (29 off 32 balls) however put up a 51 run third wicket partnership to give Manipur a scare. But things turned around with Mami getting run out and Milan Y trapping Tarangtha lbw for 31 runs reducing Mizoram to 60 for 4 after 14.1 overs.
Mizoram skipper Apurwa and Zuali also tried to steady the chase but Monica bowled out Zuali for 11 before Chingkhei M undone Apurwa Bhardwaj for 11 to put Manipur in dominating position.
