'Naitom Tana Mirakta' released
IMPHAL, Apr 24:
A book " Naitom Tana Mirakta" written by retired IAS officer Kangjam Radhakumar was released today at JNMDA.
Former Chairman of National School of Drama, New Delhi Ratan Thiyam was the chief guest of the function.
At the function, Ratan Thiyam said that the Manipuri literature being left behind by 'our forefathers' is very challenging and can compete with the literature of other States or the world.
Saying that promoting literature in contemporary Manipur, however, is difficult due to the presence of a large number of literary pundits, the theatre director maintained that contemporary Manipuri literature also doesn't have shape, structure and aesthetics as that of the past.
The emergence of several new words, voices, spellings which have no literary touch is another challenge for contemporary Manipuri literature, he said and maintained that the literature of the past gives a positive vibe as it is closely knitted with spirituality .
Ratan Thiyam also said that there is a lack of dramatic literature in Manipur and expressed desire for the writers to focus on the subject. During the function, different artists recited eight poems in the book.
