Monetary aid extended to victim of B Gamnom's firing incident

KANGPOKPI, Apr 21: Kind-hearted denizens of Kangpokpi town extended monetary assistance to the injured minor of the infamous B Gamnom's firing incident through a philanthropic organization, the Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (KKL).
Initiated by a local journalist of Kangpokpi, Kaybie Chongloi, in collaboration with the Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization and Kanggui Youth Union, with the permission of Kangpokpi Town Committee, crowd-funding was organized at Kangpokpi town on April 19 to help the poor minor boy who is currently hospitalized at Mother's Care Hospital, Imphal.
The minor boy battling for his life is one among the several injured in the infamous B Gamnom firing of October 12, 2021.
The minor had been treated at JNIMS, Imphal where one bullet out of the two was retrieved from his stomach while another one remained at the spinal cord.
A few weeks back, he was brought to the same hospital and later shifted to Mother's Care Hospital where another operation was conducted.
Following the medical treatment, the family had exhausted all their resources and it was when the philanthropic organization KKL began to look after the boy's treatment.
On learning about the situation, Kaybie Chongloi, who had earlier initiated several crowd-funding in collaboration with KKL and other local bodies, organized crowd-funding at Kangpokpi town and generated a sum of Rs 66,965.
The amount was handed over to the representatives of KKL at Kangpokpi Town Committee office today by chairman of KTC, Angam Leivon; KWWO president, Hekim Hangshing and KYU vice president, Kamgougin Lunkim.
Representatives of KKL expressed their sincere gratitude to the people of Kangpokpi, the journalist and civil bodies of Kangpokpi town for their noble gestures and initiative.
It may be mentioned that similar crowd-funding was organized at Motbung, Churachandpur by Thadou Artiste's Association and KKL in the form of a Charity concert while many others also contributed through online crowd-funding organized by KKL.
