Kangleipak Students' Association has urged the apex body of van drivers to regulate the fares charged from students and to come up with a uniform fare.
Aside from this, KSA has also pointed out many handicaps in the education sector.
In a statement, KSA said that as van fares are not regulated, certain van drivers charge fare as per their whim. It has reached a point where for a distance of less than 1 km to-and-fro from their school, some students are being charged around 3/4 thousand rupees.
In order to alleviate the inconveniences faced by students and their guardians in this regard, KSA has urged the apex van drivers' body to regulate van fares and draw up appropriate criteria to apply a uniform fare.
Aside from this, KSA also stated that some private schools have included books which are not prescribed by BOSEM in their curriculum.
The statement also stressed upon the fact that school fees are unregulated and many schools take advantage of this.
As a result, KSA has appealed to the relevant authorities to take up appropriate action to solve these problems.
