Col CK Nayudu Trophy : Manipur lost by an innings and 99 runs to Tamil Nadu

IMPHAL, Apr 1 : Manipur incurred second loss in the Col K Nayudu Trophy Group A (Elite) competition as they lost by an innings and 175 runs to Tamil Nadu within Day 3 at CAP Ground 3, Puducherry.
Manipur who had posted 155 runs for all wickets down in first innings (83.1 overs) slumped to a disheartening 91 within 44.3 overs in the second innings today.
Resuming the third day on 330 for 8, Tamil Nadu had added 15 more runs before they were bowled out in 100.4 overs as Jotin Pheiroijam picked two more wickets- R S Jaganathsinivas 7 and H Trilok Nag 6 today to finish with the best bowling figures of 4/10 in his spell of 20.4 overs.
In second innings, Nitesh Sedai provided initial flourish but departed on 28 to Ajith Ram when the scorecard read 36 runs after 10.5 overs and the slump continued as Tamil Nadu's B Mohanprasath S (3/26 in 20 overs), R Sonu (5/3 in 5.3 overs) and Ajith Ram (2/25 in 11 overs) broke the back of the entire Manipuri line up. Johnson (24) also had a brief stand but could not influence the innings much and eventually Tamil Nadu enjoyed an innings and 99 run victory and climbed atop Group A.
Manipur will play Andhra Pradesh in the third and last Group league match at the same venue from April 5.
