Traffic drive

IMPHAL, Apr 18 : In a bid to check traffic rule violations, Additional SP-led Imphal East Traffic Control Police carried out a drive at Khurai Lamlong today.
As a part of the drive, the Traffic Control Police team led by Additional SP Keisham Bijoykumar detained those commuting on two wheelers without helmets.
The traffic rule violators were detained until a new helmet was bought or brought from home. Meanwhile, those who were driving without putting helmets on but were kept inside dicky/boot or attached to the vehicle, were detained for a while before being released.
Speaking on the sidelines, Addl SP K Bijoykumar appealed to all two wheeler commuters to surely put helmets on. Helmets are not for storage, he said while urging all to avoid the habit of putting on helmet only after detecting Traffic Police personnel.
Helmet is for personal safety, he said while adding that such drives have been carried out earlier and will be continued to ensure safety of all and to instill a sense of responsibility among all two wheeler commuters.
