IMPHAL, Apr 18 : In compliance with Manipur Lokayukta order dated March 21 this year, Power Secretary SK Chourasia and Anna Arambam, Joint Secretary/Department of Personnel appearing before Manipur Lokayukta apprised the present stage of the matter relating to the order of February 7 and placed two letters written by the Deputy Secretary (Power) dated April 13 addressed to the Deputy Registrar and another letter addressed to the Deputy Registrar Manipur Lokayukta, dated April 18, 2022 today.
The complainant along with the Power of Attorney holder also appeared in person before Manipur Lokayukta today.
On perusal of the said letters, Manipur Lokayukta observed that its recommendation that N Sarat Singh be removed from the post of Managing Director of MSPCL is to be placed before the Cabinet for its decision. The recommendation that the MD be removed from his post was issued on February 7, 2022.
“Manipur Lokayukta and the State Government have the same common objective of taking action against corrupt public servants/officers and also to punish them by following the due process of law. There cannot be difference of opinion between the Manipur Lokayukta and the State Government,” it observed.
The Lokayukta expressed hope that the Government will take appropriate action in the interest of the public and for transparent governance and as prayed by SK Chourasia gave two weeks more time for the State Cabinet to take a decision on its recommendation issued on February 7.
The Lokayukta also directed SK Chourasia to furnish copies of the letter of the Government of Manipur so that the High Court may not pass any adverse order without being apprised of the said letters from the side of the State Government.
The Lokayukta also ruled that there is no case of the Manipur Government rejecting the February 7 recommendation as is evident from the letters of the Government dated April 13 and April 18.
Manipur Lokayukta listed the case on April 29 for further proceeding.
