ICAR organises “Input Distribution Programme”

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Manipur Centre conducted “Input Distribution Programme” at Makha Leikai Community Hall, Patsoi Part-II today
As per a press release by ICAR, Manipur, the programme was organized under the ongoing North East Council (NEC) Project “Integrated Traditional Farming for Improvement of Rural Economy and Sustained Livelihood in Imphal West (Patsoi) Manipur” implemented by ICAR Manipur Centre.
Altogether 170 farmers participated in the programme.
Speaking as the chief guest, Patsoi AC MLA, Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh  appreciated ICAR Manipur Centre for implementing the NEC project for the welfare of the society and supporting the farmers by supplying need based critical inputs.
He appealed to the beneficiary farmers to effectively use the inputs to get the best yield and production out of it.
He stated that such a programme is a boon to the villagers and farming community should support and extend cor-operation for bringing positive development and changes at the grass root level.
Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR Manipur Centre while speaking during the programme highlighted the role and importance of improved agri- inputs especially high yielding seeds and planting material for improvement of the rural economy.
He also stressed on the need for taking up integrated farming by incorporating livestock and fishery components along with crop cultivation for increasing farm income, generating round the year employment and sustaining the rural livelihood.
He further stated that ICAR Manipur centre is always ready to help and assist the farmers for any technical problems and difficulties related to farming.
As a part of the programme, seeds of Rice RC Maniphou-13, poultry chicks, fish fingerlings, sweet corn, coriander, bottle gourd, pumpkin, okra, French bean, cucumber and carrot were distributed. Scientists from ICAR Manipur Centre and ICAR KVK Imphal West also participated in the programme, added the release.
