Hoisting of tricolour on Apr 14 to be christened Moirang Day

IMPHAL, Apr 12 : The Moirang Day would be observed on April 14 under the aegis of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose 125th Birth Anniversary Celebrations, North East Regional Committee and the Manipur State Committee.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose 125th Birth Anniversary Celebrations, All India Committee general secretary Bharati Mukherjee recalled that Colonel Shaukat Ali of the Indian National Army which was set up by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the tricolour for the first time on the soil of India at Moirang on April 14, 1944.
The historic event would be commemorated as Moirang Day, she said.
As a part of Moirang Day observation, a public meeting would be held at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in the morning of April 14, Bharati said.
A bike rally which would be flagged off from Silchar  tomorrow would reach Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on Thursday, she said.
People who would be attending the public meeting at  the Youth Hostel would go to Moirang together with the participants of the bike rally to pay floral tributes at the INA Memorial Complex, Moirang, she added.
Bharati said that the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose 125th Birth Anniversary Celebrations Committee is not related to any political party nor is it an NGO.
It is a public platform formed by people from different walks of life, she claimed.
