IMP/UKL, Apr 10 : As in other parts of the world, many Churches in Manipur celebrated Palm Sunday at their respective places, today.

A play "Triumphal Entry of Jesus" was also performed by the Children Ministry of the Church.
Rev Huten Wilson Anal was the preacher of the event.
Ukhrul Town Churches also celebrated Palm Sunday today.
As a part of the programme, the first established Church of Manipur Phungyo Baptist Church organised a special prayer for the children of Ukhrul.
A song was also sung to exalt the coming of the Messiah by holding palm branches in the beginning of worship service.
During the sermon, the speakers spoke about the background and the significance of Palm Sunday to the Christians.
Palm Sunday is the last Sunday in Lent and the Sunday before Easter. It’s the beginning of Holy Week, the most important week of the year for Christians.
On Palm Sunday, Churches often give the congregation palm branches to re-create the celebration of Christ’s final arrival in Jerusalem because his followers used palm branches to honour him as King and Messiah.
At Moreh, a number of Christians took out a procession by chanting "Hosana Hosana" in the surrounding areas of the border town to recreate Christ’s final arrival in Jerusalem.
A large number of people from different Churches including children took part in the procession.
