KSO postpones

KANGPOKPI, Mar 6 : The Kuki Students' Organization (KSO) has postponed its proposed bandh of March 7 after a talk with Government representatives today.
Earlier, the student body decided to impose a 24 hour total shutdown  from 5 am of March 7 in hill districts, condemning the alleged assault of KSO Sadar Hills general secretary by police commandos at Kalapahar  on March 3.
According to KSO General Headquarters, a meeting was held with the State Government representatives led by the DGP  at his office chamber this afternoon.
During the meeting, the State Government assured to solve the issue within three days, it added.
Continuing that the student body decided to give three more days to the State Government to solve the issue, the KSO said that the total shutdown will come into effect from the midnight of March 9 if the Government fails to keep its promise.
It may be mentioned that the KSO had demanded removal of police commandos from the hill areas and to take up appropriate actions against the personnel who allegedly assaulted its general secretary.
The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur, all KSO units and Sadar Hills Private Schools Association have endorsed the total shutdown.
