Capacity building programme begins

THOUBAL, Mar 24: A 3-days non-residential training and capacity building programme under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) on "Modern Aquaculture Technique" began today at Conference Hall, DFO Thoubal.
It was organised by District Fishery Office, Thoubal under the financial assistance of National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Kh Ibetombi informed that fish is a good source of protein which can be acquired cheaply by the people.
Stating that the Government of India has initiated various schemes to increase the productivity of fish farmers and generate more income, Kh Ibetombi urged the farmers to take part in such training programmes to gain more knowledge and avail the benefits of the schemes.
About 51 farmers from Kakching and Thoubal districts took part in the programme.
Fish Research Centre Lamphel, Research Assistant Ch Sinthoi; and District Fishery Office Thoubal, Field Assistant MM Shabanam Shahni also attended the programme as resource persons.
