Man shoots fiancee dead

IMPHAL, Mar 23 : The State police have arrested one 25 years old man from Soibam Leikai Ahongei Leirak for allegedly murdering his fiancée on March 20.
Reportedly, the woman was allegedly shot dead by her fiancé after they stayed together at an unknown location for 14 days.
Accused Khagembam Ashok (25), s/o Naran of Soibam Leikai Ahongei Leirak was arrested by a team of Yaingangpokpi police and was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate  Imphal East, yesterday. The Court then remanded the accused to police custody till March 28.
According to credible sources, the deceased Ningthoujam Lanthoibi alias Ichan (22), d/o Mani of Tentha Makha Leikai currently staying at Bamon Leikai Harikhagok Makhong was last seen with the accused on March 6 evening by the locals of Bamon Leikai Harikhagok Makhong.
The family members of the victim family came to know that  the accused is a married man with two children after they went to the latter's house with Porompat police.
Saying that both the families agreed to marry the victim to the accused (Keina Katpa) in the presence of  police, the source continued that the father of the accused Khagembam Naran left the police station in a hurry on the pretext of attending an urgent work and didn't return. Ningthoujam Lanthoibi was found dead with bullet injuries on her face at Naran Chekon at Sabungkhok at around 12.30 am on March 21, the source continued and maintained that the said brickfield is owned by the father of the accused.
As per the IO of the case, the accused admitted the charges leveled against him. The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the IO, remanded the alleged accused to police custody till March 28.
It is reported that the body of the victim has been claimed by the family members after an autopsy at JNIMS today.
