IMPHAL, Mar 16 : The All Manipur Body Builders Association (AMBBA) has accorded a warm reception to State bodybuilders who represented and brought home medals from the "11th Federation Cup 2022" (Senior Men's Bodybuilding and 14th Women's Bodybuilding, 9th Men's and Women's Sports Physique National Championship 2022) which was conducted from March 11 to 13 at Gangtok, Sikkim.
In all, 14 State athletes led by two officials, I Umakanta and Y Nilbir as manager and coach competed among 255 players from 32 units including various sports boards in various categories.
Manipur won 5 medals, including 3 silver and 2 bronze while 2 players finished 5th, recalled AMBBA in a statement.
W Kiran (75 kg men's bodybuilding), Bhopendrao Nongmeikapam (80 kg men's bodybuilding) and K Arnold Singh (85 kg men's bodybuilding) had won silver medals as Melson Nongmei-kapam (90-100 kg men's bodybuilding) and Karishma Chingangbam (women's open bodybuilding) earned bronze medals. Ng Surchandra (90 kg men's bodybuilding) and Thaja Seram (Women's open sports physique) had finished fifth in their respective events, said AMBBA.
The players and officials were given a rousing welcome by AMBBA and sports enthusiasts upon their arrival at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport today, it said.
