Cycle rally held

IMPHAL, Mar 13: A cycle rally carrying message about making Yaoshang a festival of sports was flagged off from Kangla wester gate today by YAS director T Phulen Meitei.
The cycle rally organised by KSA passed in front of PWD complex, through North AOC, Khongnang Ani Karak, Dingku Road, Khurai Lamlong Thong, Khurai Puthiba Leirak, Pangei Bazar, Waiton, Chingarel Tejpur, Lamlong Bazar, and concluded at KSA office after crossing Minuthong.
Speaking to media on the sideline of the rally, KSA president Sukham Bidyananda said the cycle rally is being organised to carry message about 11th Kanglei Mega Sports Festival slated to be held from March 17 to 22.
The mega sports festival was started from 2012 with the objective of bringing about a change amongst the youth who usually indugle in intoxicants and excessive merry making during Yaoshang and unite them with sports, he added.
He added that local clubs are also now taking up initiative to prevent unwanted incidents from happening during Yaoshang festival.
