Manihar no more
IMPHAL, Mar 13: Former Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Mayengbam Manihar Singh who was elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Wabagai Assembly Constituency three times expired today at his Wabagai Terapishak residence.
He was 85.
Manihar was elected to the State Assembly for the first time in 1984 as an Independent candidate.
He was elected again in 1990 on Congress ticket and went on to become the Deputy Speaker.
Manihar was elected for the third time in 2000 on Congress ticket. This time, he went to become Minister of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry and Art & Culture.
