CADA organises awareness campaign

In a bid to sensitize the masses regarding the impacts of substance abuse, Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) organised an awareness cum discussion programme today on the role of the public to prevent the rampant use of intoxicants during election at Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Darul Uloom in association with All India Tanzeen-E-Insab (AITI), Lilong Local Council.
The awareness programme has been conducted as a part of CADA's continued efforts to spread awareness on the impacts of drugs and other intoxicants in view of the rising cases of pre-poll violence owing to rampant use of intoxicants by the people especially during the times of election, said a press release by CADA.
The programme was attended by Md Abdul Nasir, Retired DSP Excise, Md Sirajur Rahman, Retired SDO, Md Jainul Abuddin, former Councilor, Md Abdul Hakim, social worker and Hijam Priyokumar, president CADA as the presidium members while Geetchandra Mangang, Secretary General, CADA attended as the resource person.
Speaking on the occasion, Geetchandra emphasized that the public should stand firmly against the use of drugs and  intoxicants during election.  Maintaining that the intending candidates are trying to lure the voters by providing them an easy access to such substances, he appealed to the public not to elect such candidates who are against the well being of the society.
