IMPHAL, Feb 7 : CYCLONE, Thangmeiband posted a 3 wicket win against Model Club, Chingamakha in a last over thriller to earn the title of the 9th T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2022 here at Oriental College and Model Hr Secondary School ground today.
After winning the toss, Model Club elected to bat first but could muster only 115 runs for 7 in their quota of 20 overs. Model Club then posted a winning 117 runs for 7 in 19.5 overs despite Model Club bowler Suresh picking three wickets.
In Model Club's innings, Suresh (28 of 23 balls) and Santosh (31 off 47 balls) gave initial flourish before Cherish  added a crucial 25 runs for the team. Ajit (11) and Gourachandra ( not out) also added identical 11 runs to the team's tally in this innings which saw CYCLONE's Robindro scalping twice.
CYCLONE's Sudhir, Tiken and Rohindro also picked a wicket each to check Model Club batters.
In reply, CYCLONE had a sloppy start losing both the openers cheaply but sensible knocks from Sachikumar (21 off 18 balls), Shyamsundar (24 off 25 balls), Heramani (21 off 27 balls) and Lamnganba (13 off 17 balls) helped the team overcome Chingamakha bowling attack led by Suresh.
Chaoba of Model Club also claimed two wickets in this innings as Saratchandra and Bobin returned with a wicket each.
Robindro, who fetched two Model Club wickets and added 6 runs to CYCLONE's tally in the chase, was named man of the match.
Winners, CYCLONE were feted with a rolling trophy and a cash reward of Rs 15,000 while the runners up were awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 12,000.
Semifinalists, CHAMP and LCCC were awarded Rs 2000 each as man of the final match, S Robindro and man of the series, Syed Mujibur Rahman of CHAMP received a cash prize of Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. Tourney's highest wicket taker, A Sanjoy of CHAMP (10 wickets) and highest run scorer, Syed Mujibur Rahman of CHAMP too got Rs 1,000 each besides hat-trick wicket takers T Manikumar of YUCC and Jila of LCCC who were awarded Rs 1,000 each.
