Padma Shri Bino

IMPHAL, Feb 6 : Chief Minister N Biren Singh today called on Lourembam Bino Devi of Singjamei Thokchom Leikai who was conferred Padma Shri award this year in recognition of her work in ancient applique art called "Leeba".
Visiting the residence of the traditional applique artist, the delighted Chief Minister shared happiness over her achievement and presented Lourembam Bino a "Leirum Phee" scarf, a shawl and a memento.
During the Chief Minister's visit, L Bino highlighted the importance of preserving vintage clothes and old scriptures and the need to avoid duplicacy of the original works.
The Chief Minister also took note of the valuable words  from the artist and assured that he will look into the matter and do the needful.
In the meantime, the Padma Shri awardee was accorded a warm felicitation programme today by the Senior Citizens Forum, Singjamei Mathak Thokchom Leikai at her residence.
The function was presided by the president of the forum, Leihaothabam Nadiyachand Sharma.
