Poppy plantations destroyed

IMPHAL, Feb 6: A joint team of Kangpokpi District Police, Narcotic and Affairs of Border (NAB), Forest Department and 22 Assam Rifle, Saikul on Saturday carried out a mass destruction of illegal poppy plantation in the hill range of Molkon village under Saikul Police Station, Kangpokpi district.
According to reliable information, the destruction drive was carried out under the supervision of Superintendents of Police, Kangpokpi ,Amrita Sinha, IPS.
During the drive, about 15 acres of illegal poppy plantation assessed to worth Rs 2.5 crore was destroyed by the joint team.
A Suo moto case has also been registered at Saikul Police station for further investigation.
