IMPHAL, Feb 26 : Al Bashid hit a century and Johnson was just 5 runs away from hitting a century as Manipur declared second innings at 425 runs for 9 in 121.4 overs at JU 2nd Campus, Salt Lake, Kolkata.
After today's impressive innings of Manipur, Mizoram managed to add 41 runs for 1 wicket to take their tally to 238 runs and are trailing behind by 454 runs at stumps on Day 3.
Al Bashid who was 48 not out at stumps on Day 2, carried forward the scoring spree today and completed a haul of 150 runs off 307 hitting 21 fours and a six.
L Kishan Singha made a significant contribution of 46 runs off 102 balls before rampant Al Bashid who was dismissed by Bobby Zothansanga to reduce Manipur to 345 for 7 in 106.2 overs.
Johnson then anchored well and kept the scoreboard ticking by hitting 12 fours whenever he got chances before he was run out on 95 for the eight wicket when the scoreboard read 386.
Priyojit Kangabam who shared a brief time with Johnson was unbeaten on 50 as Manipur declared their innings at 425 runs for 9.
Mizoram's guest player, Taruwar Kohli who finished with the best bowling figures of 4/43 in the first innings kept his form intact to finish with best figures of 4/31 in 12 overs in the second innings. Bobby Zothansanga, in the meantime managed two wickets for 83 runs in his spell of 21 overs as Iqbal Abdulla and G Lalbiakvela picked up a wicket each.
Needing 496 runs overall to win, Mizoram who were bowled out for 127 runs in their first innings, lost Lalhruaizela on 11 for the first wicket in their second innings before closing out the third day on 41 with Vikash Kumar (26) and Remruatdika Ralte (4) on the crease.
Mizoram now need 455 runs to win in a day with 9 wickets left in hand.
