IMPHAL, Feb 25
Chairperson-in-charge of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang has appealed against placing restrictions or curbing the initiatives taken up by the Commission and further urged for the people's support.
The statement was made by the Chairperson-in-charge during a press meet held at MSCW Office in Lamphel DC Complex today.
Addressing the media persons, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang appealed to the gathering to encourage the programmes of MSCW and support the Commission which solely exists for the betterment of society. Taking an example, Mongsang shared that in 2019 a 23 year old woman from Kangpokpi district submitted a complaint to the MSCW, following which both parties were summoned for the commencement of hearing.
However, at this juncture, the respondent filed a complaint against MSCW in Manipur High Court. Due to this, the Commission was unable to proceed with the case, the Chairperson-in-charge informed. Recently, the High Court ruled in favour of MSCW and  further allowed the Commission to proceed with the case.
Mongsang called it unfortunate that certain characters would cause hindrances in the way of the Commission performing its public service.
She further urged the people to support MSCW instead of indulging in activities that might cause delay in serving justice.
