IMPHAL, Feb 24 : The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has saluted the freedom fighters who have laid down their lives in the revolutionary movement of Kangleipak and conveyed best wishes to the people of Manipur on the  occasion of its 43rd foundation day.
In a statement, RPF president Irengbam Chaoren claimed that Manipur was ‘forcibly annexed’ by humiliating and insulting the sovereign right of 'our king.'
Alleging that there is no reason for the people of Manipur to be content on being a part of India, he added that some lumpen elements consider Manipur becoming a  part of India as a necessity and the same mindset is very unfortunate.
These lumpen elements not only make themselves a puppet but also work hard to tarnish or destroy 'our independent political history' by taking part in the Indian electoral process, he claimed and alleged that there are also some elements who are working against the wishes of freedom loving people of the land.
Claiming that these elements consider revolutionary movement as misguided and is evident from the slogan “bringing back to mainstream,” Chaoren alleged  that this slogan is not only insulting the liberation struggle but also an attempt to destroy the true character of 'our struggle' and treat it as an internal problem of India.
Saying that RPF does not have any intention to enter into peace-talk with India as of now, the RPF president claimed that the aim of peace-talks is to disarm the revolutionaries.
"Many of the revolutionary groups of WESEA, which have entered into peace-talks with India are now in a situation of “the Scylla and Charybdis,” he claimed and further alleged, "We have seen the 9 point agreement of 1947, 16 point agreement of 1960 and the 1975 Shillong Accord between India and Naga revolutionary group and the Framework Agreement is meant to trade Naga’s freedom with some material benefits."
Claiming that Mizoram Accord of 1986 and TNV Tripartite Accord of 1988 were the agreements that had destroyed the idea of freedom, he alleged  that India has also snatched away the special autonomy enjoyed by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and kept the region in a semi-military rule.
Further claiming that it is not possible to achieve freedom through peace talks particularly in Manipur and the WESEA region, Chaoren said that India can never  occupy the love for freedom of the people.
Claiming that lack of communication or misunderstanding between the  people and revolutionary groups in recent times has negatively impacted the revolutionary journey of Kangleipak, he clarified that the problems being faced by the people are not intentionally done by the revolutionary groups.
"We should carry our revolution along with the masses based on the wishes of the people," he added.
Further stating that RPF believes in the collective independent struggle, he claimed that many from the hill areas of Manipur who believe ‘in our ideology had started to join the RPF.’
"However, some revolutionary groups are threatening people in certain hill districts and it is due to this fact that RPF has postponed its recruitment in the hill areas," he clarified.
Besides, Indian Army through the instrument of SoO and peace-talks built their camps in the hill areas and as such  there was difficulty in establishing camps there, he claimed and maintained that the situation has now changed because of the emergence of revolutionary groups which are against the ideology of ethnic exclusivism and its futility.
"People have also realized the real danger of Machiavellian tactics of the Indian regime," the RPF president alleged and claimed that RPF is marching ahead with such groups for the liberation of Manipur.
On Covid, Chaoren claimed that the pandemic might have taken the lives of more than 30 lakh people in India as per a recent study published in Journal Science.
Even in Manipur, people believe that the figure could be more than what the Government has published, he said and urged all to take extra precautions to protect themselves.
He further urged the Government to formulate an appropriate strategy to stop the spread of the pandemic.
