MP refutes report

IMPHAL, Feb 23
Reacting to the news report which appeared under the caption, 'Don't trust anyone without clear identity', datyed February 21, Lok Sabha MP from Darjeeling Raju Bista said, "I categorically reject the report stating that I had raised issue about the identity of a contestant from the Kangpokpi Constituency. This is a blatantly false and misleading report, which has caused needless controversy and feeling of ill-will among the Gorkha community.
"It has been brought to my notice that this misleading report, especially the headline, was perhaps deliberately filed to rile up anti-BJP sentiments among one section of the people", said the MP.
"The report has done immense harm to my personal reputation and has put to question the honesty of efforts towards the upliftment of the people of Manipur, especially the Manipur Gorkha community", he added.
Raju Bista further said, "I am once again categorically stating that I have not questioned any candidate's identity whose nomination has been scrutinized by the Election Commission and the Administration and permitted to contest as per the rules of the Indian Constitution."
