Election campaign kicks off

Ukhrul, Feb 21: Khashim Vashum, MLA and NPF candidate in 45-Chingai AC on Monday kicked off his election campaign at Mission ground, Paorei village, Ukhrul.
A huge crowd including representatives from NPF Central committee Kohima, headmen, chairmen, and NPF workers took part in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Khashim appealed to the people of Chingai to give him another chance to serve them.
Stating that proposals have been made for different developmental projects to increase road connectivity and improve infrastructure in the region, the MLA announced that he had never compromised the interest of the people for any reason.
He also informed that the annual budget allocation for hill districts have been increased following the insistent pressure of NPF MLAs to the Government for fair allocation of funds.
He announced that NPF will take up the matter of MADC Bill 2021 to the Government.
Dr Chotisuh Sazo, Nagaland MLA and campaign committee member Ukhrul enlightened the gathering on the position and vision of NPF and stated that NPF was formed to preserve  and protect the rights of tribal communities
Nagaland MLA, Y Vikheho Swu, campaign Committee chairman Ukhrul and Manipur in-charge; Wungnaoshang A' Shimray, president NPF Ukhrul Division; Paul Muinao, working president MSU NPF and Samuel Risom, chairman Election Committee-2022, Manipur also spoke on the occasion.
As part of the programme, Rev Jonah M Solo, pastor of Paorei Baptist Church, invoked blessing for Khashim Vashum.
Artists including Shimreingam Horam, Oshim SW, Nimshimphy Muivah, Nimzingla Horam and  Somichan Vashum enthralled the gathering with their musical performances.
