IMPHAL, Feb 20 : Social Worker Asem Roshan has appealed to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur to remove two booth level officers of Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency from their assigned post for the alleged inclusion of two minors in the final draft of electoral roll for polling station number 4 and 6 of 23-Mayang Imphal AC.
This was stated during a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today.
Speaking to the media, Asem Roshan of Mayang Imphal Thana Wangkhei Leirak stated that on February 3, he filed a complaint to the CEO, Manipur against the BLO of polling station number 4 appealing for her removal from the present status of BLO along with the appeal to remove the name of the BLO's minor daughter from the final draft of electoral roll of polling station number 4, Mayang Imphal AC.
He further alleged that the date of birth of the BLO's daughter as per her academic record is June 1, 2004 and as such below 18 years of age. He asserted that the BLO had apparently enrolled and verified her minor daughter.
Similarly on February 9, he filed another complaint before the CEO, Manipur against the BLO of polling station number 6 for allegedly including her minor child of class IX in the final draft of electoral roll for polling station number 6 of 23-Mayang Imphal AC.
He has therefore appealed to the CEO, DC Imphal West and RO of Mayang Imphal AC to remove the two erring BLOs from their present assigned post as both of them might have taken active part in the enrolment of their minor children in the electoral roll of Mayang Imphal AC.
As such, they are guilty of misconduct in discharging their duty as BLO and performing an act of forgery, he added.
