Local liquor destroyed

IMPHAL, Feb 18
Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) in continuation of its relentless drive against drugs and other intoxicants, around 300 litres of local liquor were seized and destroyed today.
As per a statement from CADA, the local liquor was seized during its drive held at Nambol Thongkhong and in areas of Sangaiprou FCS Godown today.
The seized local liquor were bottled and labelled with different names such as 'Phayeng Chakpa Kalei', Chakpa Phayeng', Chaknam Phayeng, 'Chaknam', 'Chaknam 360 Temper' and were destroyed in front of the public.
With just a few days left for the conduct of the 12th Manipur Legislative election, the incidences of pre-poll violence have increased considerably owing to rampant use of drugs and intoxicants. However the Government and authorities concerned have not taken up any concrete steps to curb the use of these substances which is really unfortunate, added the statement.
