Governor greets

IMPHAL, Feb 18 : Governor La Ganesan has extended his heartiest greetings on the occasion of the 392nd birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on February 19.
The Governor has stated that Chhatrapati Shivaji, whose original name was Shivaji Bhonsle, revived ancient Hindu political traditions and promoted the usage of Marathi and Sanskrit languages.
The Governor lauded the emperor saying that he was one of the first Indian rulers to introduce the concept of a naval force to protect the Konkan region of Maharashtra. He also praised the emperor's bravery and stated that it will remain as an inspiration to the future generations.
