IMPHAL, Feb 17: PCC Mayai Koibi has stormed into the final of the 3rd MNCA U-16 Boy's Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2021-22 after beating AKSDO, Khangabok by 26 runs.
In the match played at Heinoupok Playground today, PCC won the toss and chose to bat first.
Opening the inning with Takhelamyum Vikash, Nongmaithem Prashanta was bowled by AKSDO's S Kaku after adding just 7 runs in 27 balls. T Vikash fell victim to another ball from S Kaiku as he was caught by Bishorjit Mangang after adding 29 runs in 23 balls (3 4s and 2 6s).
Max Warokpam and Ajay Mahto scored 26 runs each while all other batsmen failed to put a double digit score as the inning ended with 135 runs (including 34 extras) with a fall of 6 wickets in 30 overs.
AKSDO bowlers Sanayaima Ningthoujam gave away 32 runs in 5 overs, Laishram Nirash 22 runs in 4 overs and 1 wicket; Chingsomba Mocha 16 runs in 6 overs; Saikhom Lanchenba 28 runs in 3 overs and 1 wicket; Saikhom Kaiku 11 runs in 6 overs and 3 wickets and Saikhom Amarjit 16 runs in 6 overs and 1 wicket.
Eyeing a target of 110, Bishorjit Mangang and Chingsomba Mocha opened the second inning but Bishorjit was sent back to the pavilion after facing 2 balls and adding '0' runs on the board by Ajay Mahto.
The AKSDO batting line-up was battered by PCC bowlers and were all out with just 109 runs in 23 overs.
PCC bowlers Ajay Mahto and Takhelmayum Vikash took 3 wickets each while Laitonjam Anjan took 2 wickets. Pravin Kumar and Mairembam Lucky took 1 wicket each.
Ajay Mahto Kumar of PCC won the man of the match award for his 26 runs of 32 balls and 3 wickets in 6 overs.
