STDCM peeved

IMPHAL, Feb 17 : The Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) has categorically stated that the response given by Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs RK Ranjan about the  possibility of including the demand of ST status for Meetei/Meitei in the election manifesto of the BJP yesterday can mislead the people.
In a statement, the STDCM said that the Union  Minister giving paucity of time as the reason for not incorporating the long cherished demand of the committee is rather unfortunate as the movement of the committee is not new.
Asking if the BJP is trying to avoid the matter or opposes granting ST tag to Meetei/Meitei, STDCM reasoned that the State Government had the time to analyse the demand of STDCM 100 times. "It is up to the BJP to decide what is to be included in its manifesto,  but it is unwise to mislead the people" it said and added that the STDCM will carry forward the movement to save the Meetei/Meitei community.
