Observers review poll preparation

IMPHAL, Feb 12 (DIPR): In connection with the ensuing State Assembly Election, 2022, Election Observers for 41- Chandel AC and 42-Tengnoupal AC, Yogesh Kumar, (General Observer), Sivasankaran Pattanam Singaram, (Expenditure Observer) and Gaurav Singh (Police Observer), took stock of poll preparedness in Chandel and Tengnoupal districts today.
The Observers (General/Police/ Expenditure) had an interactive session with District Election Officers (DEO) Chandel, DC Tengnoupal, Superintendents of Police (SP) of Chandel and Tengnoupal, ROs , AROs and all the other Nodal Officers at the conference Hall, DC complex, Chandel.
During the meeting DEO/DC Chandel, Rajkumar apprised the observers regarding the preparations being taken up for the forthcoming Assembly election. It has already been notified that the Election Observers would be staying at 26th sector, Assam Rifles, Pallel. The General Observer would stay till March 10, 2022 and the Police Observer and the Expenditure Observer would stay till the poll day (March 5).
On the other hand, till the end of last day of filing nomination papers on February 11, a total of eleven candidates, four for 41- Chandel and seven for 42-Tengnoupal had filed their papers.
The nominated candidates for 41- Chandel (ST) includes one BJP, one NPP and two from NPF whereas for 42- Tengnoupal (ST), one BJP, one NPF, one NPP, one RPI, one INC and two independent candidates have filed their nominations. The scrutiny of nominations will be done on February 14 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is on February 16, as already notified by the CEO, Manipur.
